Actress Gautami’s Property Fraud Case Escalates: Prime Suspect Seeks Bail from Madras High Court

Justice CV Karthikeyan of the Madras High Court directed the respondent, C Alagappan, to clarify how he came into possession of the contested original property paperwork belonging to Gautami, which are central to the ongoing legal matter.

C Alagappan, who is at the heart of a fraud case prompted by a complaint from ex-BJP affiliate and actress Gautami Tadimalla, has sought the Madras High Court for anticipatory bail. Justice CV Karthikeyan considered the request on November 20, instructing Alagappan to submit a detailed account of how he acquired the disputed property documents initially owned by Gautami.

The court is set to continue the hearing on November 27, with Advocate Renjith Marar appearing for the accused. On September 7, Gautami approached the state law enforcement, accusing Alagappan of fraudulently misrepresenting himself during a property deal that dates back almost twenty years.

Per her allegations, in 2004, Gautami divested herself of a 46-acre property. At that point, Alagappan, presenting himself as a property agent and developer, was given the power of attorney to oversee the sale of said property. Over time, Alagappan and his wife have been involved in buying and selling additional properties owned by Gautami.

However, Gautami claims that it was only recently that she discovered the misappropriation of over ₹25 crores by Alagappan, his wife, and their family through these dealings.

Following her complaint, the police detained twelve individuals, including Alagappan, with six currently in custody. Alagappan remains at large. Post-filing the complaint, Gautami, along with her daughter, reportedly faced threats to their lives from anonymous sources.

On October 23, Gautami resigned from the BJP, criticizing the party for neglecting her needs during a pivotal moment and alleging that certain members within the party provided support to Alagappan.
