As per the directions of the Bombay High Court, Gautam Navlakha’s bail petition was re-examined by special judge Rajesh Katariya today.
However, a detailed order is yet to be released. Navlakha, a human rights activist and former secretary of the People’s Union for Democratic Rights (PUDR), was arrested in August 2018 in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case.
On September 5, 2022, a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court rejected Navlakha’s regular bail request. He then petitioned the Supreme Court, which ruled that the bail application required a new hearing before the special court.
The court was also directed to complete the hearing within four weeks. As a result, on March 15, Navlakha filed a plea for re-examination of his bail petition, which was reserved for orders on March 30th, 2023, after a hearing.
