A Spanish tourist who was allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand’s Dumka has been given a compensation of 10 lakh rupees (approximately 11,126.20 Euros) by the Jharkhand Police.
The District Court ordered to transfer the money directly into the victim’s account. The compensation was confirmed with a cheque and a formal letter, which were given to the victim’s husband by the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police.
This initiative was led by Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, the Executive Chairman of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA), Ranchi. A meeting was convened to discuss the matter, involving the Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, the Deputy Commissioner, the Superintendent of Police, and the Secretary of Dalsa.
