Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister, has filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court contesting both the remand order that was later issued by a trial court and his detention by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi excise policy case.
Bar & Bench was informed of the news by Kejriwal’s legal team. An urgent hearing on the Chief Minister’s case was requested, but it was turned down.
Due to the High Court’s closure on Monday and Tuesday of next week for the Holi vacations, the case is probably only going to be heard on March 27.

Kejriwal was allegedly a major conspirator in the Delhi Excise Policy scandal, according to the ED.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a case on August 17, 2022, in relation to purported anomalies in the Delhi Excise Policy for 2021–2022, which is the basis for the Enforcement Department’s money laundering investigation into the topic.
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena filed a complaint, which led to the registration of the CBI case on July 20, 2022.
AAP leaders, including former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and other unidentified and unnamed private individuals/entities, are accused of hatching a criminal conspiracy throughout the policy-making process.
It has been claimed that there was a conspiracy involving “intentionally” left or created gaps in the regulation. These loopholes were purportedly designed to favor some conspirators and liquor license holders after the tender process.
In connection with the case, Sisodia and AAP Rajya Sabha member of parliament Sanjay Singh are already incarcerated.
On March 15, 2024, the ED also detained the daughter of a former Telangana lawmaker and Bharat Rashtra Samiti legislator.
