Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been summoned by a Ranchi court for allegedly disobeying Enforcement Directorate (ED) notices in connection with a land grab case. The court has asked him to appear on April 3 after the ED reported that he had not complied with seven summons issued since August 14. Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED on January 31 in a money laundering case and subsequently resigned as the state’s chief minister. The court found sufficient grounds to proceed against him under Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code for non-attendance in obedience to an order from a public servant.
